Winter Essentials For You And Your Horse

We all have our favourite products that are a MUST have, especially in the winter. We have chosen some products that are complete winter essentials in the equine world.

Winter Essentials For You:

  • Waterproof Jacket - This is a must-have for the temperamental weather that we find ourselves battling in the winter months.

  • Thermal Breeches - When riding, our legs can get pretty cold during these winter days, but, thermal breeches will help solve the problem. Breeches that are lined with either Polartec or fleece are great.

  • Gloves - Of course, you can’t forget the gloves. Our hands are the most exposed when riding so a good pair of gloves that are warm and waterproof. They will stop your fingers from freezing.

  • Country Boots - A good day at the yard doesn’t consist of numb toes, so keep them warm in a substantial pair of lined country boots.

  • Fleece Underlay - A perfect addition to the waterproof jacket. These underlays are ideal to layer up to keep yourself warm.

  • Headband - I don’t know about you but my ears really feel the cold in the winter. A headband always helps keep them toastie so that I have a comfortable day at the yard or even when riding.

  • Heavy Weight Jacket - A waterproof jacket is essential, you could also have a hoodie to pair with a lighter weight jacket for layering.

  • Durable Rake - Rakes that last in the cold temperatures are extremely helpful. Along with a snow shovel.

  • Automatic Waterer - Richies, automatic waterer is recommended by our contributor Tanya Buck.

  • Turn Out Boots - Keeping your horse’s legs clean and dry is really important to prevent things like mud fever. This will also shorten your grooming time.

  • Stain Remover Spray -  Baths are often last resorts in the freezing temperatures, so be sure to have some spray to keep your horse looking clean.

  • Shelter - A warm shelter for your horse to cosy up in will make them a lot more comfortable throughout the winter.

  • Tank Heater - A reliable tank heater in the colder states is a must-have, with a back up in place.
