The Top 10 Riding Locations In Florida

Horse riding is one of the best therapies and there’s certainly nothing better than riding in the most amazing locations.

Florida is home to some of the most enchanting places to ride. We have listed some of the most popular locations below for anyone who is looking for a new and beautiful place to ride. We have chosen to list trails that are suitable for all skill levels...

 

Wekiwa Springs Orange Trail
 



The Wekiwa Springs Orange Trail is a loop that’s roughly 6 miles long. The beautiful trail is located near Apopka, Florida and is suitable for all riding levels. The trail features a picturesque lake which makes the riding trail all the more pleasant. The trail is most frequently used from September until July.  

There is an entry fee. The trail has been rated 4.5 stars by 344 users. 

 

Morris Bridge Park
 


Morris Bridge Park is also a loop trail that just falls short of 15.5 miles. The trail is located near Thonotosassa, Florida and again features a river. The trail is suitable for all skill levels and is best used from October until May. Dogs are welcome on this trail, however, they must be kept on a leash.

The trial has an elevation gain of around 51 meters. The trail is rated 4.5 stars by 257 users. 

 

Split Oak Forest Green Trail
 

This trail has also been rated 4.5 stars by 241 users. It’s a 3 and a half mile loop trail located near St. Cloud, Florida. The Split Oak Forest Green Trail also features a lake and is suitable for all skill levels.

It has a low elevation gain of 4 meters across a 2,000-acre area. 

 

Flagler Trail To Econlockhatchee River
 

Flagler Trail To Econlockhatchee River is just over 6.5 miles long. It’s an out and back trail located near Oviedo, Florida. This trail also features a river with lovely scenery. The Flagler Trail is rated as moderate, so beginner riders should take caution or wait until a little more experienced to ride this trail.

The trail is accessible all year round and has an elevation gain of 23 meters.The trail also welcomes dogs too. 

 

Hammock Park Trail

Hammock Park Trail is just over 1.5 miles. It’s a loop trail located near Dunedin, Florida. This trail is home to a number of beautiful wild flowers to admire on the route. The trail is suitable for all skill levels or riding and is again, accessible all year round. Dogs are welcome on the trail, however, have to be kept on a leash at all times. 

The trail has a small elevation gain of 7 meters. 

 

Lake Louisa Nature Trail 

The Lake Louisa Nature Trail is almost 7 miles long. The trail is located near Clermont, Florida and has a number of different routes to try out. Again, the trail features beautiful wild flowers and is suitable for all skill levels of riding. The trail is accessible all year round and dogs are also welcome. There is an elevation gain of around 34 meters. You may want to download the app or a map as the trials can sometimes be tricky to follow. There are beautiful lake views on offer here and plenty of easy parking. 

 

Little Big River, Digbat, Ditch of Doom and Flagler Trail


This trail is roughly 9 miles long. It’s a loop trail located near Geneva, Florida and features some of the most amazing river views. It’s rated as ‘difficult’ so isn’t a trail for beginner riders to try. The trail has an elevation gain of 47 meters. The trail is open all year round and it also welcomes dogs, however, they must be kept on a leash at all times. 

 

Withlacoochee State Trail 

If your looking for a longer trail to ride the Withlacoochee State Trail is great. The trail is roughly 46 miles long, located near Dunnellon, Florida. This trail offers the chance of seeing some incredible wildlife whilst on route. It’s suitable for all skill levels of riding and is open all year round.

It has been described as ‘Over 46 miles of pure pleasure’. 

 

Munson Hills Trail

The Munson Hills Trail is just over 8 miles long, it’s a loop trail located near Tallahassee, Florida. Like many of our favorite trails, this one also features a lake. The trail difficulty is rated at moderate, so it’s more suitable for riders with a bit of experience under their belt. It’s open all year round and welcomes dogs, however, they must be kept on a leash at all times.  

 

Wild Orange and Hickory Loop Trail 

This trail is almost 3 miles long. It is located near Sebring, Florida and captures a huge amount of nature and wild flowers to admire. The trail is again, suitable for all skill levels of riding and is best used from September until May. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on a leash. This trail has an elevation gain of just 5 meters.
