Wolfe Ranch

Wolfe Ranch was started by Pete and Cheri Wolfe in 1981 shortly after they were married. Cheri was already a well-known professional horse trainer relocated in 1979 from the Colorado mountains (escaping the worst of Colorado's winters). She brought several horses with her including winning show horses, all tracing to the mare that put her in the horse business in 1966. Most Wolfe Ranch horses today, still trace back to that foundation mare.
Arbuckle Trail Rides, LLC was started in 2000 by Pete and Cheri, owners of Wolfe Ranch Quarter Horses. After 35 years of training horses professionally, they needed to slow down and retire from hard competitive riding. Taking out a few trail riders seemed to fit their background perfectly. Now, they cannot keep up with the demand. Sadly, Pete passed away September 11, 2021, at the age of 80. He was still riding and training horses until he fell ill in May. He is sadly, sadly missed. Cheri is continuing with the operation of the trail rides and still raising and selling some of the best saddle horses Pete and Cheri have ever raised.
About 10 years ago, Cheri wanted to raise some draft cross horses out of their good cowbred AQHA mares. She looked for 2 years to find just the right Registered Percheron stallion. She wanted one that stood under 17 hands, had a pretty head (not a big, clunky Roman nose) and was clean legged (DID NOT have high maintenance feathers). She found Glenview Kane (Ranch name, TINY) on the Minnesota / North Dakota state line siring the prettiest wagon horses you ever saw. She just knew he would sire outstanding saddle horses as well. She and TINY have never looked back. He has sired some of the most 'ridable', 'usable' ranch and trail horses you will find anywhere. They are not reactive or spooky by nature, they have little or no resistance to being trained, they are athletic (way beyond expectations), willing and most are really cowey and work on their hind ends - like good Quarter Horses. TINY has not only added that quiet, non-reactive mind, he has put excellent bone and feet on them and given them more size, substance, and strength. He gave the quick-footed fine boned little cutting horses the size they need to be useful outside of the cutting pen. These horses can do about anything, do it willingly, and do it all day with a big rider on them. As I get photos and videos, I will post them on the Wolfe Ranch website and on this 'Horse Clicks' site. We have about 20 draft crosses ranging from 4 months to 3 1/2 years. Most are out of mares we raised sired by Call Him The Flash and our Driftwood bred stallion that we sold to the UK. All together, we have exported 28 horses to Europe, Ireland, and the UK. We are painfully critical of our own horses and have been as honest as any breeder can possibly be. If you go to our website, you will see many of the horses that we have bred, raised, trained, and sold. I hope to meet or talk to more of you now. I am still getting over losing Pete, dealing with y own health issues and trying to catch up with training our young horses. Please be patient with me.
