We are excited to offer one of the best ponies to ever come through our barn for your consideration!! Cheddar 11yo 12.2hh Halflinger Cross Gelding Disclaimer : If my son was old enough to really start riding (he is 2yo). A million dollars wouldn’t buy this pony, but the timing just isn’t right for us and it would do him a great injustice to have him sitting out in the pasture for the next 2-3 years. Cheddar is truly a once in a lifetime horse, not just for a child but for the whole family!! You cannot help but love him! He is gentle, patient, forgiving, and most importantly SAFE 365 days a year. This little gelding is what every child should start out on. He will teach them how to ride, build their confidence, and do absolutely anything asked of him, he is the type you can cut your kids loose in the pasture bareback with a lead rope around his neck and never give them a second thought. He loves to babysit! Although our favorite little guy is built more for feed than speed! He is by no means lazy!! He will move out and give you what you ask for every time. He’s rides around like a handy ranch pony should, ride him one handed with your reins draped and lope across the pasture, then take him to the arena and he will frame right up and pack his face. There is no pulling or snatching, he is soft and correct. There’s no tricks or gimmicks. Cheddar is not going to be the one to take your kid to any winner circle but he will be the one that will teach them everything they need to know to be ready for the horse that will! He’s our go to guy for just about everything. He’s been used all over the ranch, hauled to playdays, traveled out of town with my 64yo aunt to trail ride and when he wasn’t being rode he stood hobbled or in a stall with never an ounce of trouble, he’s worked at the stockyard, tracked the sled, pushed cows at some ropings, the kids have tied and drug goats with him, he’s gone through all different types of obstacle courses, he has been used by some of our hippo therapy students, he rides double, triple, with no fuss. We have ponied him out of trucks, tractors, side by sides, next to a cart pulled by another pony! He’s been exposed to everything on our farm from guns, fireworks, inflatable slides/ kid birthday party shenanigans to cattle, dogs, chickens, goats, pigs, deer, turkeys, big horses (he’s is out in the pasture with a mixed herd of mares and geldings aging from yearling to 30!) and crazy ranch kids. Cheddar is the real deal! He will suit absolutely anyone, any age, any experience level, any discipline! If you want a solid gelding that you can count on no matter the circumstances THIS IS YOUR HORSE! He is up to date on all vaccines, coggins, farrier, and dental work.
