Pleasantview’s Johnny Boy is his registered name we call him Johnny B. Goode like the song or just plain Johnny. He is 1/2 Friesian 1/2 Morgan registered with Friesian Sport Horse. He stands at 15.1 hands tall and is still growing I wouldn’t be surprised if he finishes out around 16 hands tall. This guy is also built like a brick he is stout and it’s muscle not fat. He maybe young, but he has a lot more experience than most horses his age he’s already been started in so many ways and has a lot of trail experience already. So if you are looking for a new horse to start with Johnny is your guy he already has an excellent foundation and he’s not old enough to have learned any bad habits.

He’s already been started roping off from, driving, arena, and trail riding. We have even started jumping logs out on the trail and he’s starting to like it so he can literally go into any direction you want to take and finish him out in. And he has the papers if you want to do shows. He has the Morgan mindset so he’s very smart and versatile. Wants to please and learns quickly.

So for trail this guy has lots of trail miles under his belt already he will cross any water, bridges, and goes through the muck. He rides out alone or will lead or follow if you are riding with another horse. He doesn’t really care a whole lot about where the other horse is so we can easily separate out on the trail and meet back up. I have used him to pony another horse and he ponied great. He’s not easily spooked, but he is still young so he can still spook now and again. But he’s not stupid he has NOT offered to bolt, buck, rear, kick, or bite. He has NO bad habits or vices. The only thing I would say is he does untie himself now and again so just make sure you tie him up so he can’t undo his rope.

He hauls excellent loads right up in and backs right out. He stands good you wouldn’t even know he was in the trailer. He stands good at the hitching post. He gets along out in the pasture I have him pastured with one other gelding right now, but he has been pastured with mares and a stallion before and he gets along fine. He’s NOT a boss, but not low man either probably somewhere in the middle.

This guy has been roped with so he’s fine with a rope swinging around him and having the rope around his legs. He’s been used a couple of times to rope a calf or young horse and he did great each time. He stands good for the Ferrier.

For driving he had about a month of getting him started in that direction. He was started out by line driving pulling a drag and then he was hitched and lightly driven a few times. And he did great with it all, so if you want him for driving he just needs to be finished out if you want to go that route.

Stands still for tacking and mounting. He knows the pick me up cue. He’ll pick up both leads and knows leg pressure. Takes his canter every time you ask. It really wouldn’t take much to get him going into doing the flying lead changes. Because he’s just a very smart horse that uses his head. And if you ever had a Morgan you know how smart they are. Morgans just learn so much quicker and retain everything so much longer.

He has that nice floaty friesian trot and he can do a slower trot or move out and do an extended trot. And his canter is very smooth and easy to sit.

When you do a cross of two breeds you don’t always get the best of both, but in Johnny’s case I would say he did. He has the Morgan mindset and toughness, but he has the Friesian movement and build. He has some thick legs and big feet and he’s very muscled. He also has a little bit of feathering on the legs too. As a yearling he was built like a 2 year old and right now he makes my other 2 year olds look like yearlings. So if you can see how impressive he is now just keep in mind that in a couple more years he’s going to look twice as good. And if you keep up with his training for whatever direction you want to take him he’s going to be a really nice horse he’s just that sensible type.

He is comfortable to ride in the arena, but he really loves the trails too. He doesn’t care about traffic at all I have had loud trucks go by and all sorts of traffic and it doesn’t seem to bother him. In the video we have some motorcycles and quads go by him and that was the first time we had that kind of traffic and he didn’t do a thing wrong.

I have also taken him through some thick brush where I just laid right down on his neck and he just puts his head down and plows through and didn’t do a thing wrong with the brush hitting him in the sides and under the belly. So if you are looking for a really sane sensible mindset check Johnny out you can’t go wrong. If you want to come see him or have questions feel free to call he has a current Coggins and a vet check all that will be posted on the site. We may also get some more videos to add later so make sure to check back for more videos our phone number
