Troy is a 12 year old registered Friesian cross gelding standing at 15.3 hands, with a huge barrel and stout build suitable for both petite and tall/heavy riders. He's a head turner anywhere he goes with his Friesian hair and feathers and dun features. He's Mr. Personality, greets you at the gate with a nicker, will stand for grooming all day, has a curious, playful nature, gets along with anyone in the pasture, and no annoying or dangerous stall vices. He's willing to try anything, and quick to learn new concepts.

He's definitely more woah than go and extremely tolerant of mistakes, so he's a great confidence builder. He’s currently 6 weeks into being slowly and correctly brought back into work after some time off, but even so the only vices he has shown under saddle is wanting to drift the direction of the barn and kicking out when we first started asking him to canter. He had been ridden by beginners and amateurs safely both inside the arena and out, including my 65 year old father who hasn't been on a horse in 15 years, and he took great care of everyone.

He’s good on trails both alone and in a group, and is happy to lead or follow. He happily goes English, western, bareback, whatever it is you want from him. He has that impressive Friesian movement and free shoulder and knee action, but all his gaits are sittable and his canter is incredibly smooth. He had a natural propensity for lateral movement and is light to the aids. He picks up both leads (stronger to the right but balancing out).

He’s been exposed to all kinds of things, from dogs to cows to cars to golf carts to kids on bikes, and his biggest “spook” move is to stop and snort at it, then forget what he was upset about and go on with his life. He has no lameness or illness history other than a small scratch on his eye when he was a yearling (Virginia Tech treated him with no lasting effects and full vision to this day). He is barefoot, has no colic history, and has had virtually no workload most of his life so his joints are in excellent shape.
