Buttercup is a gentle 14.2h, 13 year old, seasoned ranch and trail mare that is friendly, sound and safe. This mare is thick and stout. She cinches deep, holds a saddle well, has good feet, and has ample bone. She has excellent ground manners, stands tied, and saddles and bridles well. She trailers well, loads straight, and backs out on command. She loves being groomed and kept up! She handles time off well. Buttercup is soft in the bridle and goes off leg cues. She picks up both leads. She is smooth to ride and will walk out. She has a nice ground covering long trot. She has had many different riders with varying experience and skill. This mare knows what a full days’ work is. We’ve had her on overnight trips and at hunting camp. She has led a pack string of mules through the rugged Rockies. She trails cattle and will take the outside circle alone or push with a group. We’ve doctored cattle on her. You can tie off, and she’ll hold the rope. We’ve run a whip on her as well. She has spent plenty of time trail riding for fun too. She handles all the real world obstacles such as traffic, cyclists, drive-thrus, bridges, and water with willingness and bravery. We’ve even ridden her in town at night to check out the Christmas lights. We have not found any spook in her. In the arena, our daughter has had fun practicing barrels and poles. She is always eager to please. Buttercup had a presale evaluation done by our vet on 11/29/23, and the report is available. Delivery is also available.
