Thunder is truly one of the best ponies we have ever owned. Standing a handy 10.2 hands tall, he is the perfect size β not too big and not too small β and is extremely broke to both ride and drive. Thunder rides like a big horse, lopes collected circles both directions, rides one-handed, and has a great handle in the arena. He is just as dependable outside and has been used for all kinds of ranch chores, including gathering cattle and checking pairs.
Thunder has been enjoyed by kids of all ages, as well as just about every visitor who comes to our place. The kids ride him saddled and bareback, take him down the trails, play with him around the barn, and spend hours brushing, saddling, and loving on him. Even the little ones can lead him around, and he is very mindful of the children working and playing around him. Thunder also knows some fun tricks β he will lay down on command and even sit up like a dog! He will lay down for mounting, making him extra fun for the kids to show off and enjoy.
Thunder is every bit as broke to drive as he is to ride. We have driven him through town, taken him to the park, and hauled him along on all kinds of adventures. He has even joined the kids for lake days and gone swimming! Out on the trail, he is confident and dependable, whether you ride him alone or with a group.
Thunder stands tied, is good for the farrier, bathes, brushes, and saddles well, and loads and unloads with ease. He is the kind of pony the kids can actually enjoy in every way β ride him, drive him, do ranch chores, practice their horsemanship, teach him tricks, or simply spend the afternoon playing with their best friend.
Ponies like Thunder are incredibly hard to replace. He has the size, the handle, the experience, and most importantly, the personality that makes kids want to spend all day with him. Whether itβs gathering cattle, riding bareback, driving through town, hitting the trails, swimming at the lake, or showing off his tricks, Thunder is ready to be part of the fun.
