"Teddy" Chestnut Gelding American Saddlebred

Teddy is a sweet, laid-back rescue gelding who came to us from an Amish background, and we truly believe he has found his personality. He was so standoff-ish and now he thrives on seeing Ally for his weekly ride.

We believe Teddy is a Saddlebred/Morgan cross, approximately 18–20 years old. He is a very slender-framed boy, so we feel his ideal rider would be under 200 lbs.

And his personality? Absolutely priceless. 🥹

Teddy is lazy in the BEST way. 😂 He is calm, kind, and incredibly patient. He seems to absolutely thrive on attention and having a job to do. A couple of young ladies have been riding him while getting back into riding, and he has been a total rockstar for them.

He has also done excellent on trails and doesn’t seem overly bothered by the usual sights and sounds. He isn’t what I’d call a spooky, high-energy horse—he is much more likely to look at something and say, “Eh… whatever.” 😂

Teddy can happily:

🐴 Walk along lazily behind a leader

🐴 Carry a confident rider and stretch out into a nice trot

🐴 Go out on the trails

🐴 Handle kids and attention wonderfully

🐴 Be ponied and worked around little ones

My own 2-year-old has been ponied on Teddy several times, and has run around screaming, playing, and even underneath/around him. Teddy remains calm and unbothered. That says A LOT about his temperament.

He truly seems to enjoy having a person fuss over him and give him a purpose. ❤️

Teddy isn’t looking for someone who needs a flashy, high-energy show horse. He’s looking for someone who appreciates a sweet, steady, uncomplicated older gentleman who wants to be someone’s best buddy.

I think Teddy would make an amazing trail companion, confidence-building horse, or family horse for someone wanting a calm partner to enjoy and love on.

He has been given a second chance, and it’s been so rewarding watching him realize that people can mean love, attention, and good things. 🥹❤️

Teddy is available to an approved home only. His forever home is more important to us than simply finding him a place to go.
