Sterling is the kind of horse that is genuinely hard to find. He is a quiet, willing, exceptionally responsive grade gelding who has been ridden English and Western and has proven himself with both adult and youth riders.
Sterling gives you what you ask for. He has a good handle, rides comfortably on a loose rein, and responds readily to leg cues. He can be ridden one-handed and steered from the leg, yet he remains attentive to the rider and adjusts to what is being asked of him. He has a little more whoa than go, but will step up and give you speed when asked.
He is quiet-minded and uncomplicated. In the time we’ve had him in training, he has not offered to buck, rear, kick, bite, or spook. He is comfortable on the trail, whether leading or following, and is very sure-footed.
Sterling is equally pleasant on the ground. He enjoys being around people, stays close without crowding, and respects personal space. He stands quietly for grooming, saddling, body work, and massage and allows all four feet to be handled without issue.
His feet are solid and can be maintained barefoot or shod according to workload and terrain.
Sterling has the combination that matters: a good mind, a willing attitude, a responsive handle, and the ability to adjust to his rider. He is the horse we would confidently put on a youth rider, while still being enough horse for an adult who appreciates a well-broke, responsive mount.
He does not have registration papers, but his lack of papers does not diminish what he is under saddle. Sterling is a genuinely enjoyable horse to ride and an exceptionally good prospect for a family looking for one horse that can be ridden and enjoyed by multiple members of the family.
