He is a pleasure to be around at home, in the corrals, in pasture and is first to meet you at the gate, and always easy to catch. Great to tie and trailer. He is good for the farrier, he has been cold and hot shod and doesn’t mind either. Good with all four feet. He has a big personality and loves to be with people. Stands well to be saddled and bridled, and he loves to be groomed and bathed. We want to disclose that like a 1st grader before picture day, Red cut his own hair. He’s been reaching through the continuous panels to reach the irrigated pasture, so he has a rub spot in the middle of his mane. It will grow back he’s done it before!
Red is broke to hobbles, picket and highline, although we have never had to worry about him straying too far from camp. He has led many pack strings and has handled every new situation with a quiet demeanor. He rides out alone or in a group, he has had ropes under his tail, unruly mules pestering him, pack strings causing chaos and he has never batted an eye. He has drug logs for firewood, roped a colt a time or two, and has more experience chasing horses and mules than most horses you’ll meet in your lifetime. He loves to work, but will settle right back down and walk off quietly as soon as the job is done. This horse loves to have a job, but he can sit for extended time off and come back to work just the same.
Red has been through obstacle courses, desensitizing boot camp, and has had some arena work done. He even debuted in a music video you can watch on YouTube (Cowboy Cry – CECE) during which he was exposed to lots of different motorized vehicles – ATVs, 4-wheelers, etc, camera equipment, speakers, and packed around a varying levels of riders, through the many video takes he stayed patient, kind and quiet.
Red is a superstar, he has been a joy to take to work, he has experienced various levels of riders and is a safe mount, but he is also very intelligent and wants to be handled correctly… only for that reason we would recommend him to an advanced beginner or above. He will try his hardest to please and needs a kind and knowledgeable partner to go on taking him into his prime. Come check him out in Powell, WY! Feel free to call with any questions.
