Temperament and Handling:
Phoenix is exceptionally sweet and easy to be around. She is the type who wants to be with her person and will happily follow you through just about anything, including tarps, bridges, logs, and pool noodle chutes. She is also unfazed by bikes, wagons, dogs, and neighboring livestock such as sheep, goats, and cows.
• Easy to handle and lunge
• Respectful in cross ties
• Self-loads on the trailer
• Travels quietly and sensibly
• Calm in new or unexpected situations
She has even proven she can handle life’s less glamorous adventures, including an extended trailer stop after curbing the horse trailer in the Culver’s drive-thru.
Training and Rideability:
Under saddle, Phoenix is sensitive, light in the bridle, and responsive to the rider. She has a good foundation, yields well off the leg, and has excellent brakes. Because of her rehabilitation timeline, she has been brought back slowly and correctly, with a focus on walk/trot work, and she has recently started cantering under saddle again.
Phoenix has already been off property to a show, where she brought home third place and showed herself to be sensible and composed in a new environment.
Health and Maintenance:
Because Phoenix is part Thoroughbred, we proactively chose to scope her for ulcers and take spinal radiographs. Her stomach scoped beautifully, with no scarring, and she is not expected to be ulcer-prone.
Her spinal radiographs showed mild overriding of a few vertebrae. We addressed this immediately with an interspinous ligament snip and completed a careful rehabilitation program. She is now comfortable, pain-free, and has zero pain through her back, bones, muscles, or skin.
Phoenix also has incredibly healthy, sturdy feet. She is barefoot and sound. Any and all medical records are available to serious interested parties.
Ideal Match:
Phoenix is best suited for a confident rider with young-horse experience, or working closely with a trainer. She is kind, willing, and sensible, but she is still a green, sensitive mare who will thrive with a thoughtful and consistent program.
Lifestyle:
Phoenix currently lives outside 24/7 and does well with that routine, but she is also content being stalled. She loves puddles and water—sometimes a little too much, as low water troughs may become her personal bathtub if given the chance.
Phoenix is a special young mare with an excellent brain, quality breeding, a kind nature, and a transparent health history. She is ready to continue developing with the right person.
