This beautiful mare, affectionately called “Possum” in our barn, is the definition of being The Total Package. She is one of the nicest horses I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. Her list of abilities at her age is so impressive it’s going to be hard to watch her leave! She is not marish at ALL and has the friendliest in your pocket personality. NO vices.
To start, Possum has one of the best handles you could ask for. She will take a joke and adjust to the level rider that’s on her. W/T/C both directions and has a lead change. Soft in the bridle with an easy to achieve headset or throw her away on the buckle and she rides around just as consistent. Ride her western or English, she will even pop over a jump with no hesitation. She moves off leg, will spin around and yield over. Possum will direct rein or neck rein. She is the perfect level of “buttoned” all while being forgiving and extremely SAFE. There’s not many fancy broke horses I’d trust a beginner on, and Possum 100% is one of them! No buck, rear, bolt, or spooky bone in her body.
Possum has been headed and heeled off. She is extremely easy to rope on and has a huge stop. Always quiet in the box and has seen all the sights at the rodeos. She’s the same consistent horse on or off property, keeps her brain in high pressure environments and looks good doing it.
She would make an incredible ranch riding mount and has all the buttons to trot into the show ring tomorrow and be successful.
Possum is BRAVE and a total blast to ride on the trails alone or with others. She has no problem helping you open up the gate and taking you on a relaxing trail ride. She crosses bridges, water or fallen logs and is truly one of those “point her nose and go” type.
Possum self-loads on a trailer and travels great. She crossties, straight ties, stands for a bath and will quite honestly stand all day long to be brushed and tacked up. Everyone who meets her immediately recognizes how polite and sweet her demeanor is. Call her name and she’s cantering over to you in the pasture to be caught. She’s completely up to date on vaccines, Coggins, farrier and dentist with zero maintenance or vices.
Please call or text if you have any questions or want to meet Possum yourself. I could talk about her all day long.
