I am listing Pineapple for a very good family friend. Their 9-year-old grand daughter is simply looking for something a little different (quarter horse) , so this handsome guy is looking for his next person.
Pineapple is been-there, done-that 12 year old Tennessee Walker gelding that stands 15.3 with plenty of miles and real-world experience. He has been ridden down the highway, hauled to state parks, trail ridden extensively, and used to gather and sort livestock. He has seen much more than the inside of an arena and has been given plenty of opportunities to experience different sights, situations, and environments.
One of Pineapple’s biggest highlights is his smooth, natural gait. He is exceptionally comfortable to ride and can cover country comfortably without having to canter everywhere. He will walk, trot, gait, and lope with ease and will pick up both leads when asked.
Pineapple is also really nicely broke. He has a super nice stop, an easy, soft back-up, moves willingly off leg pressure, and neck reins. He is responsive without being overly sensitive and doesn’t make you feel like you have to ride perfectly to get along with him.
That is probably one of my favorite things about him—he is educated enough to teach someone, but forgiving enough to let them learn. I am not a super experienced gaited-horse rider myself, and Pineapple absolutely takes care of me under saddle. I don’t have to know every button or be an expert to enjoy him. He makes things easy, gives you confidence, and lets you relax and enjoy your ride. I genuinely think he could teach someone a lot along the way.
Children have ridden him as well, and he is confident and experienced under saddle. He knows his job and has a lot of buttons, but he doesn’t hold your mistakes against you.
Pineapple is super sweet gelding, and I think he is going to be incredibly special for the right person. He can be reserved and cautious with new people at first and appreciates a quiet, patient approach rather than someone who wants to rush him. Once he realizes he can trust you, you really start to see his sweet and curious personality come through. He wants to be pocket friendly and enjoys attention; he just needs someone willing to take the time to earn that trust at first.
What I really love about him is that his cautious nature on the ground doesn’t carry over into the saddle. Once you’re on his back, he’s confident, experienced, and takes care of his rider.
This sweet guy has not always had the kindest hand dealt to him, and I think that explains a lot about why he takes a little time to trust someone. Despite that, he has never bucked, reared, kicked, or bitten anyone. He isn’t mean or aggressive—he simply needs someone who is going to be patient, fair, and kind to him.
I truly think Pineapple will thrive with someone who wants more than just a horse to pull out of the pasture and ride. He deserves someone who enjoys spending time with their horse, wants to build that relationship, and maybe even spoil him a little. Give him that consistency and kindness, and I believe you’re going to have a horse that absolutely adores his person.
Whether you’re looking for a smooth-gaited trail horse, something experienced enough to gather and sort livestock, or a versatile gelding that can teach you along the way, Pineapple has the experience and ability to do it.
He is an easy keeper, barefoot and 100% sound. He gets along great with other horses, stalls well, and loads well.
Pineapple isn’t looking for just anybody—he’s looking for his person. Someone patient and kind who will give him the opportunity to trust. He has the education to teach you, the forgiveness to let you learn, and the experience to take care of you along the way. I really believe that once this horse finds his person, they’re going to have something incredibly special.
