A great sire and super laid back, Phoenix has been own by a lovely older couple for several years. He resides on my property and is very easy to handle and live with. He has been used as both a breeder for mini mares and as a teaser for full-size mares.
Prior to my folks owning him he was supposedly broke to ride and a kid's pony. He was definitely around a lot of kids and has done great with all the family's children. He does tolerate a lot of handling but for the last 3 - 4 years has just been a pasture pet / breeder for us. We do not know if he will ride or drive, but he does have the size to do either and loves to be taught something new - he has a great mind and passes that on to his foals.
Phoenix has never really offered to bite or kick though sometimes he gets impatient for the farrier. He does pick up his feet well and has good, hard hooves that do not chip out. Phoenix loves to be brushed and enjoys treats such as watermelon or apples. He is an easy keeper and has stayed in great shape with roughly 1.5 acres of grass to himself. In the winter he eats a little under a half a square bale a day.
Phoenix can be hard to catch, but if you are slow and calm, he will let you walk right up to him, though sometimes he needs bribed with a snack. Phoenix is the perfect project pony for a kid who is not afraid of horses and would make a great first pony for a pre-teen or younger child with a supervising adult. He’s not in the slightest dangerous or mean but he is strong. He will pull against the lead rope if he's grazing and can jerk it out of a young kid's hands.
Phoenix has been around kids, adults, older folks, and all around he’s a safe, safe boy. However, he is a stud, and he will get distracted by mares. I have used him in hand to tease and breed mares. He can get very excited and, in the moment, can ignore his handler but a small jerk of the lead normally refocuses him. He does pasture breed just fine and is not over aggressive with his mares, but he is a nippy boy.

I am happy to work with a hauler you arrange and do have some friends who haul in WV.
We do have a local vet who is able to come and have him gelded prior to him leaving,
if that's something you are interested in, I can get you a quote.
Asking price is $600.00 but reasonable offers will be heard.
