If you are looking for a sweet, versatile gelding that you can truly enjoy in and out of the arena, meet Lightning McQueen. Lightning is a 6 year old, 14.3 hand gorgeous sorrel gelding with a personality that is hard not to love. He has such a sweet demeanor and is simply a pleasant horse to be around. He is easy to ride, willing to do what you ask, and the kind of horse that gives you the opportunity to go out and enjoy your ride instead of making everything complicated.
Lightning is very broke in the arena and can be ridden English or Western. He has a nice one hand neck rein, will pivot, side pass, and carry a flag with ease. He is happy to trot around on a loose rein, but when you ask him to collect up and carry himself, he will do that nicely as well. He will one step into the lope, catch both of his leads, and can lope around on a loose rein or collected. He has a big stop, a nice backup, and is responsive without being difficult to ride. He is also happy to go through trot poles and take small jumps, so you can change things up and keep your rides fun.
What we really enjoy about Lightning is that he does not feel like you have to pick one thing and stick with it. You can put Western tack on him and go ride around the arena, then come back another day, put English tack on him, and go through poles or over a few small jumps. He is a nice mover and has a very pleasant way of going, and his sweet personality makes him the kind of horse you genuinely look forward to getting on.
When you are ready to leave the arena, Lightning is happy to go with you. He is a very nice trail horse and will go out by himself or with other horses. He will cross water, ride through brush and tall grass, and handle rocky or uneven terrain without making a big deal about it. He handles new places with ease and is happy to take you wherever you point him. Whether you want to spend the afternoon riding around the arena or head out for a quiet trail ride, Lightning is willing to go along with the plan.
He is just as easy to appreciate when you are not riding. Lightning is easy to catch in the pasture and gets along well with his pasture mates. He stands quietly to be saddled, groomed, and bathed and stands well in the cross ties. He loads and hauls well and settles into new places without making a fuss. He is the kind of horse that is easy to catch, easy to handle, easy to ride, and easy to take with you.
Lightning McQueen is a horse that gives his next person a lot of options. He is broke enough to enjoy in the arena, willing enough to ride English and take over poles and small jumps, and dependable enough to head out on the trail. Add in his sweet personality, nice movement, and easygoing nature, and you have a gelding that is simply a whole lot of fun to own and ride.
Lightning has been a pleasure to have around, and we think his next person is going to enjoy him just as much as we have. If you are looking for a sweet, well rounded gelding that you can ride, take places, and genuinely have fun with, Lightning McQueen is one you will want to come meet.
