Leopard Appaloosa Gelding 15.2hh for sale in Florida

I’m going to be honest and straight to the point because im going to be asking a lot for anyone planning on buying this horse.

Optimus was my first horse, I love him more than anything, but I cannot afford to keep him. Him and I have been through A lot and I need to ensure he goes to a great forever home. He is loving some days and “don’t touch me” other days, you’re typical appy.

I have had him for 8 years and he’s been trained and ridden on trailers, roads, sidewalks for years. He is use to traffic noise and dogs. But he is also an Appaloosa, so he’s very smart, and high spirited. I’d prefer someone with Appaloosa experience to have him or someone that understands horses that can be high strung at times and stubborn. He was never a barn horse. He’s always had a large paddock with a walk in stall. I do not want this horse stuck in a barn. He does well with other horses on the property.

He does have some habits that I don’t know how to break. He likes to rush through rides at times. Always wanting to trot, but I also feel he just wants to be ahead of the pack of other horses. He does not ride with a bit, I’ve tried every bit and he just rides better with a hack.

His feet are a challenge, maybe because of no shoes. I could never afford to put them in, but he gets regular trims and I put many products on them to keep them strong. But during the summer his feet tend to get really soft, during the winter really brittle. He also on hoof supplements. Front shows would greatly help, I’ve had feet checked by vet, no medical issues detected.

His teeth are great, he gets annual teeth checkups. He does have a cloudy eye, but I’ve had the vet check and test his eye, we don’t know why it has a cloudy spot on it, but he can see just find out of it. Had a nighttime eye check to see if there was any damage, but there isn’t.

Someone with training and experience with stubborn horses would benefit. But here’s the only catch. If someone wants this horse you are required to sign a contract that states that if you no longer want him, he will be returned to me. Home visit will be required.
