Description

Tango has a cute, dorky, super friendly personality that everyone can't help but love. She has beautiful curly permed mane /tail and does get a curly coat in the winter months. Tango is registered and DNA tested through the American Bashkir Curly Registry. Her mane and tail do shed but do not fall completely out making her bald, like some Curlys. She is one of the lowest in the pecking order in the pasture, is turned out with mare or geldings, is very clean in her stall and stays fat on air!

With extensive groundwork she is a joy not only in the saddle but also on the ground. She has done many in-hand mountain trail / trail competitions. She lounges walk, trot, canter with NO pulling, backs off the wiggle of a rope, spins on her forehand, and side passes as well. She lowers her head and takes the bit nice and easy with no fuss, picks up her feet, and stands for a bath although they are not her favorite. She stands to be saddled and even side passes to the mounting block for easy mounting for her rider.

Tango has been ridden Western, English, and bareback in just a halter, but has only been shown in Western events. She has a solid year of hauling under her belt and is the easiest horse to settle in at a 3 day overnight stay. She has been ridden in mountain trail challenges and even competed in the 2025 OHIO Extreme Cowboy competition Winning State Reserve Champion and overall Reserve Champion in the Green Horse Division.

Tango has a good steady foundation in obstacles, trail riding, and is even started in dressage. She walks, trots, and canters but currently needs some work on collecting at the canter to make her more “finished”. Tango is naturally leaded (knows her leads) and has an immediate stop at any pace with just a sit of your seat, she backs with softness, side passes, pivots on the forehand, and slowly pivots on the hind quarters. There is not much you cannot do with this mare!

She has worked with cattle, opens gates (rope or pen), has tracked cows, been roped off of(dummy only), pushed a giant ball, opens mail boxes, rings bells, goes over bridges, backs off the bridges, has worked over ground poles, over tarps, through water, drug logs, played with flags, gone through curtains, backed through mazes, and been on normal trail rides with a group or alone, and you can slid off her butt for an easy dismount, and has been rode with a dog on the trails.

Tango loads in the trailer and backs off the trailer with ease, she loads first or last with no issues. She stands tied to the trailer with a hay bag all day or makes a good seat to just sit on her and hang out. We believe that Tango would be best suited for a confident intermediate rider or even a lower-level rider that works consistently with a trainer. She is big, strong, faster paced, and too smart for her own good sometimes. She is nowhere near dangerous and has been rode by youth and beginners with a trainer present but will take advantage of people if she can after so long. She is a horse you can ride once a week or every day. Price will increase with training come spring. Get her now and finish her how you want!

Tangos only downfall is that she does have some sidebone in her front feet that has already settled and doesn't seem to bother her, so it is recommended from our vet that she wears cloud boots or has front shoes with pads when the ground is super hard, she is currently barefoot and has not shown any lameness from this, she currently wears her cloud boots (when needed) and is super easy to put them on. She is UTD on all shots (done April 7th, 2026) her feet get done every 6 weeks along with getting chiropracted every 6 weeks, and comes with a current Coggins, she is also microchipped. She will come with a signed transfer, halter, rope, cloud boots, her winter blanket, a few days of feed, Microchip Info, and a copy of her photo on the cover of The Horsemen’s Corral magazine.

If I have missed anything, please feel free to reach out!

We are 100% honest sellers and have had her under our roof for a few years. She is currently on consignment with us.
