Arroyo is a beautiful 10-year-old buttermilk buckskin gelding standing 14.3 hands, with a soft, creamy golden coat and a kind, gentle personality that makes everyone feel comfortable around him. He has become one of my favorite horses to ride because he is the same dependable horse every time you saddle him. Whether it’s kids, beginners, or experienced riders, Arroyo takes care of his rider and gives them confidence. He’s spent plenty of time doing real ranch work, including gathering cattle, sorting pairs, checking fences, and covering all kinds of country. He’s been started on the heel side, stays quiet in the box, and has the kind of steady disposition that makes him enjoyable both inside and outside the arena. The trail is where Arroyo truly shines. He rides out alone or happily with a group, crosses water, bridges, logs, rocky terrain, steep hills, and thick brush without hesitation. Traffic, bicycles, dogs, wildlife, tractors, and town noise don’t bother him. He’s been exposed to tarps, flags, pool noodles, dragging obstacles, and many other situations, always handling them with the same calm, willing attitude. In the arena, Arroyo is soft, broke, and enjoyable to ride. He neck reins, picks up both leads, has a smooth jog and lope, a nice stop, backs easily, and turns around willingly. He’s comfortable enough to enjoy all day and forgiving enough that riders of many experience levels can appreciate him. What truly sets Arroyo apart is his heart. He genuinely enjoys being around people and has the kind of kind, trustworthy personality that’s becoming harder to find. He stands quietly for grooming, bathing, clipping, saddling, mounting, and the farrier. He loads, hauls, ties, and settles in wherever you take him. Arroyo is the kind of horse that reminds you why you fell in love with horses in the first place. Honest, gentle, dependable, and consistent, he gives you the confidence to simply enjoy the ride.
