About our business
Bring your horse and stay at Spotted Dance Ranch located just outside of Brooksville, Florida, and adjacent to the Croom Tract of the Withlacoochee State Forest, one of the premier horseback riding locations in Florida!! Ride a few hundred feet down a quiet, dirt path to access miles and miles of scenic Croom horse trails.
The Croom Tract lies along the Withlacoochee River and encompasses more than 20,000 acres. More than 40 miles of designated, well-marked, single-track trails and many miles of scenic forest roads are available for horseback riding. All trails and forest roads are sandy, with flat to moderately hilly terrain, and traverse spectacular pine, cypress, and hardwood forests. Abundant wildlife will be observed. Because most of the trails are shady, they can be ridden year-round; however, optimal horseback riding weather in Central Florida occurs from October through May.
Our ranch is also the perfect place to stay for hiking, mountain biking, or motorcycling in Croom; cycling the Withlacoochee State Trail; kayaking the area's spring runs; canoeing the nearby Withlacoochee River; golfing the many regional world-class golf courses; or just for a relaxing getaway!
We offer full accommodations for your living quarters horse trailer or RV, or you can rent our cozy Cowboy Cottage. We are a small, quiet, and peaceful facility. Because we are small, you receive plenty of personal attention, and we do our best to customize your stay.
Stalls, paddocks, and stall/paddock combinations are available for your horse. We can accommodate small groups, horse clubs, and special events in our main area (up to 25 horses), and we have a primitive camping area and parking area for large events. Day-use parking is also available. Arrangements can be made to transport you and your horse to another forest trailhead. In addition, a trailer is available to rent if you are a long-term guest wanting to haul your horse to another location to ride.
We are also a boutique breeder of Spotted Saddle Horses, breeding our herd of high-quality mares to only the finest stallions. We are currently breeding our well-bred Spotted Saddle Horse mares to The Legend of Gravedigger (son of the multi-world champion, speed racking stallion, The Gravedigger), and the world champion Kentucky Mountain Horse stallion, Holy Smoke. One to two foals are available for sale every year.
In addition, our beautiful grounds and large barns make the perfect setting for parties, weddings, retreats, clinics, and other special events!
