Set in the beautiful heartland of the upper Midwest, the heart of our business is raising and selling beautiful foals. We are a family owned operation with everyone pitching in over the course of time to make things work. The kids, Quincy, Levi, Brady, Kyerra and Zach, learned a lot of responsibility growing up with livestock. They learned at an early age that the animals were taken care of EVERY day. That feeding, watering and bedding were important; that we treat illnesses and injuries and make time to keep good records. They also found a lot of enjoyment using our sheep and horses for 4-H and FFA projects. Some are ongoing!

Operation headmaster is Dale. He is the head nutritionist, veterinarian, project manager, repair artist, etc. He wears many hats on a daily basis, but his primary responsibility is keeping everything well fed and cared for. Nada’s primary responsibility is the training work, assisted by Dale and the kids. With nearly 50 head of horses on the place, there is always something needing training. Spring, summer and fall finds her often in the roundpen giving fundamental lessons to some horse that needs it! She also takes care of all the registration and transfer work. Both Dale and Nada study breeding pairings and work to find the best matings.

Our heritage is from the Lazy JS Ranch in Bowman, ND. Originally, Nada’s parents, Russ and Fran Silha operated the ranch. Homesteaded by Grandpa Joe Silha in the early 1900’s, the ranch came to more prominence under Russ’ watch as he established our Quarter Horse production sale in 1959. You can read more about the history of the ranch on the Lazy JS Ranch tab. Nada’s brother, Logan, returned from college and also began working together with our parents. Family patriarch, Russ, passed away in 1997 and Fran passed away in 2011. Their legacy lives on with Nada’s brother, Logan, his wife, Diana and their family operating the ranch today. We are blessed to be a small part of the legacy as we come together in August to offer our year’s production together in sale.
