Miss Dixie is her Jockey Club name but everyone calls her Dixie. She is a mare but never acts like one. She is non marish at all! She is 15.3 hands and growing and will hit 16 hands easily. She is only 3 years old which is crazy to think about because she is so calm. She has such a great personality, she is a true puppy dog. She will lay her head in your arms and fall asleep while you hug and kiss her head. She will also let you mess with her lips and ears. When she is in the pasture and she sees you, she will come running and neighing to come greet you. I have rode her western and English. Most recently it has been English but she is great with anything. I also have rode her bareback with a halter and she was perfect. She is the same horse every time you ride her, it doesn't matter if she has sat in the pasture for a week or not. She wants to please her ridder and is willing do any command you ask of her. She is a bit green due to only her age. She has no spook whatsoever, if she does get startled the only thing she does is stop and stare. She is VERY safe for anyone to ride her. She has perfect conformation and if not perfect it is very very close. She has a solid w/t/c and I have worked with her some over very low fences at a walk and trot. Dixie sometimes likes to be lazy which is why she didn't make it at the track. When you ask her to do something besides walk she will need a push but wont not listen to you. She will almost instantly go when asked but just not racehorse speed. Whenever I think of Thoroughbreds, especially OTTB's, I think of more go than woah and horses that want to run faster than their heart can beat. Dixie is not at all what you would expect! She honestly reminds me of an older, mellow QH. Her brain is super sane and I have never seen her act wild even when she is the pasture with her buddies. Dixie is a very easy keeper and is 100% sound. She has not had any racetrack injuries and she has a clean slate. Right know she doesn't have any shoes but I would recommend her having shoes if she gets in a more active training routine but they aren't at all necessary. She is great for the vet, farrier, and her ground manners are very good. She can be walk to and from pastures with other horses or just by herself. She can sometimes be a little pushy if she gets excited about going in the barn but you tell her no and she calms right down and walks like an angel. She loads great also, either in a step up or a ramp. She enjoys going to new places and doesn't mind long trailer rides. She honestly could be used as an weekend trail horse just because she is great with trailers and is super calm. She ties great, I haven't put her in crossties a lot but the times i have she just stood there. She is non aggressive at all and is a big sweetheart! It doesn't matter if she is with a moody mare or a gelding, she just wants to be their new buddy. She would be perfect for a beginner, intermediate, or even an advanced ridder. Anyone that knows how to ride a horse can ride her. Very husband and Amy safe. I have had a couple people ride her just to see how she would do with variety of weights and styles and she did great! She took to all of the different ridders ques and was very willing to try new things. She is not at all afraid of jumps so show jumping or eventing she would excel at. Dressage she could great at, probably more so than jumping. Her movements are beautiful and she has confidence and holds her head high. She naturally keeps her head in the correct position so she doesn't shake or fly her head around when being ridden. Since she is so calm, she would also be a fun trail partner. She could be an everything horse that could go western and also do eventing. She is the type of horse that you can always depend on her acting the same no matter what. She is a one in a million Thoroughbred and wouldn't be selling her if I had the time to start eventing with her. I have videos of Dixie being ridden and can send them to anyone that inquires about her. ...Read full description
