Porsche has kept a novice rider (me) safe on miles of trails and a couple of pack adventures. With multiple foot surgeries and caring for an elderly parent out of state, my riding opportunities have changed. I must do the right thing by her. Sweet P is too good of a mule to become a pasture ornament and likes being out in the woods. Despite her age, she is sound with no health issues or lameness. and has alot of good life in her as mules are much hardier than horses. Sweet P requires no senior feed or supplements (just hay), is an easy keeper, easy to catch even on acres of green pasture, stands well for farrier, needs no shoes, and is not barn sour. She packs, high-lines and hobbles. Porsche has a colorful past from participating at Bishop Mule Days to Montana outfitting mule string. I had no clue what I was doing starting this mule journey in my 50s. She always took good care of me on trails crossing water and high bridges, positions her body to open gates without cues, is not spooky, and OK with dogs, bicycles and cars. She uses the softest bit, neck reigns and leg cues, and responsive. Sweet P will get up and go when asked; however, her preferred speed is on the slower side. You can get on her months later and expect the same safe ride. Sweet P will only go to the right home, the right person, that I hope is looking for a magnificent mule to build confidence, feel safe on the trails, and bring many joyful moments that comes with the special bonding of a trusted barn buddy. Serious caretakers only with a kind hand and good accommodations for my girl.
