River is a 10 year old Kentucky Mountain Horse gelding that stands 14.1 hands tall and wide! He is a very stout built gentleman that can carry the little ones or the bigger riders as well. This guy has all the “looks” and absolutely stunning jet black shiny coat with four perfect socks and the cutest blaze. River is as smooth as they come and gaits naturally and effortlessly in a true 4-beat gait that anyones rear-end or back will appreciate! If you’re looking for a steady and safe trail horse this is your guy. He would be suitable for beginners from children to adults. We have ridden him western, english and bareback and he is the same horse no matter what you put on him. He will ride in a halter, snaffle bit or a shanked bit without issue. River rides in the arena or down the trail and is comfortable alone or out in a group, he will take the lead or bring up the rear and is traffic and dog safe. He will cross water, dead fall, rough uneven terrain and trail blaze when needed. I have had beginner lesson students on him both in the arena and out on trail without any hiccups or confusion- he takes care of his rider. We have ridden him down the hard road with cars going by, bikes, joggers and some construction where the loud machinery completely unfazed him. In the arena he rides quiet and confidently, will carry a flag and let you flap it all around him as well as a giant beach umbrella twirling all over and open and closing. River is a gentleman for mounting and dismounting and will stand all day for even the slowest moving little kids and older adults to climb on and off him- he will also wait by the mounting block to be mounted as well. He is good tied single or in cross ties, patient to be groomed and saddled, bathed and good for vet and farrier to work on as well. He will load into any style trailer and hauls quiet- off loads in new places quietly and requires no prep, just saddle up and go ride. He can live turned out or stall kept and is an easy keeper. River sells sound with no vices or limitations. As always with any of our horses, vet checks are welcome at the prospective buyers expense.
