At no fault of her own. I’m looking to find my Rocky Mountain mare a new home that she can thrive in. She is around 20yrs old and has a ton of life left. Rocky Mountains are fully gaited and live for a long time! I’m looking for a home that plans on using her for trails, kids to use her for fun, or open ranch work. her pros….. she is an extremely easy keeper,no joint or health problems. Never had ulcers or colic, anyone can ride her but does need to be some what confident ,stands for the farrier, no shoes needed unless your going to be doing lots of gravel trails then I’d recommend shoes. loads great, loves bareback riding, respects all fences, will trail ride through anything, gets along great with other horses and all other animals. Does not kick or bite, knows all commands and is patterned in gaming events.
The bad…. She can tend to get herd bound/buddy sour. She has gotten better over the years but can definitely need’s a buddy. She has done gaming and roping but really shouldn’t do many competitions unless there short days. Does not like box work! Once she’s done doing something, she’s pretty Persistent on doing something! She’s very safe with kids. But really shouldn’t do Ohset or 4-h. The 3-4 days of competition she will tend to throw fits. Maybe the right person can correct this but I haven’t been able to.
She is a very sweet girl and loves attention. If you want a wonderful trail horse/ranch horse then she’s your girl!
