Utah Man Reunited With Horse After 8 Years Apart
News General Equestrian
Vega is an excellent trail horse. He loads, camps, crosses water, and picks his trail for the best footing. He rarely spooks but when he does he spooks in place. He doesn't bite, buck, or rear and he has yet to kick out at another horse on the trail. He has strong rock-solid feet and is currently only running barefoot with a barefoot trim every 8 weeks. He stands well for the farrier, but due to a poor experience with a previous farrier he doesn't like the farrier stand. If that is not in use he does very well.
He's also an easy keeper and maintains his weight well without having to offer excessive food. He's currently on Purina Senior Active and a Bermuda round bale and does just fine.
The past 3 years have been spent with inconsistent riding so he's been enjoying a retired life. He would be an excellent limited distance endurance prospect once reconditioned or just an amazing trail horse for any intermediate rider to enjoy.
He's used to dogs, cats, donkeys, and has been kept in a mixed herd. He takes a slower approach with strangers as he does prefer to get to know you first which is why he is not recommended for children. However, he's still easy to catch when pulling him from the field.
Unfortunately, all of Vega's pasture mates have crossed the rainbow bridge. He's looking for a new herd to enjoy as he lives out the golden years. He hasn't had a lot of hard miles and has no health issues so it looks like he's still got a long life ahead of him. If you think Vega is the horse for you, he'd love to hear from you!
