Lena is a 7yo, foundation bred, registered quarter horse. He bloodlines include being a granddaughter of PLAYGUN and a great granddaughter of SMART LITTLE LENA. She is extremely athletic, spins on a dime, but she is NOT BROKE TO RIDE. I have had Lena for 4 years, since she was a 3yo and she is EXTREMELY REACTIVE. You can walk up to her in the pasture or lot with no issues, as long as you don't have a rope or a halter in your hands. The halter thing is fairly new. She's extremely smart and I'm curious if she's scared of the halter now because we haltered one and put it on a trailer that has never returned. I know it sounds weird, but that's the only thing I can think of.
Lena and I have had great days where I have put a saddle pad on her and sat my saddle on her with her just standing there. We've had terrible days where you can't get a halter on her no matter how much time you spend in the round pen with her. And then we've just had days.
I've decided that I've spent all the time on her that I'm going to. I was going to breed her to a Peptoboonsmal grandson , but can't get the halter on her to trailer her there. I'm just done.
I believe that she was abused as a 2yo getting started, but have zero proof that that is what happened.
I am looking for a dead broke horse for a trail horse for a beginner rider. I'm going to just start riding and working my other Smart Little Lena mare and I don't want to keep her on a feed bill.
As you can see, I'm being very honest bout her. I don't want her hurt and I don't want anyone else to get hurt. I also don't want her to end up in a kill pen. My hope is that she ends up a broodmare for someone....Read full description
