Utah Man Reunited With Horse After 8 Years Apart
News General Equestrian
While I was able to confidently lead her- walk trot in hand, pony, lunge, jump and pick up all 4 feet and saddle her and sit on her from then to now, she’s too much horse for me to saddle break.
She needs work on her right side as she isn’t fully confident on that side.
She’s a horse I can confidently say will go in any direction with the right person. She has a gorgeous stride, natural flying lead changes to die for, a nice smooth jump (when she gets confident doing them) she’s very clever and extremely food motivated, which could make her a good liberty horse as well. When lunging at liberty she will do a gorgeous rollback and changes directions well. Very good on a lunge line with whoa, we haven’t established that at liberty.
You can pet all over besides her nose- she appears to have had trauma to the face and now has one deformed tooth, I discussed it with a vet and because she is at a wonderful weight it’s obviously no issue to her. She’s worn a bit several times for the experience of it, and had no issues. Completely sound, UTD on all vaccines, dewormer and coggins. Has not had teeth done, purely my fault as I never could remember to make an appointment at a good time.
Loads, trailers, picks up all 4 feet- although back ones could use a bit more work she is not dangerous, just tries to put them back on the ground where she likes them. Flexes her neck to both sides. Stands relatively well to be saddled, as long as you’re not quick and crazy about it. She really enjoys being brushed and loved on, but hasn’t ever had a bath. Gets along wonderfully in a herd, middle of bunch. Will go out alone on walks and to be worked or with other horses, doesn’t care either way.
Extremely respectful of all fencing, she stays where she belongs. She can take a minute to catch, but she cools off and lets you approach her without issue if you keep on it.
Stands roughly 14hh on a well muscled frame
