Jane is a 12 year old Quarter Horse/Welsh mare standing a solid 14.3 hands high. She is sturdy enough to carry the husband or guests, yet close enough to the ground for anyone to easily mount and dismount. This mare has continued to impress us with each new or spooky thing we threw her way. She would clean up at a trail competition! Jane was raised in the mountains of Kentucky, where she was part of a string of reliable and trustworthy trail horses on a dude ranch. Though most of her miles are on the trails, she has blown us away with her movement on the flat in the arena and her willingness to learn basic dressage and jumping!
On the trails, Jane is quite literally a professional. For the past 8 years she has been giving first timers with cowboy aspirations rides all through the mountains of Kentucky. She has primarily been ridden in a group setting, by all levels of riders, nervous and timid alike. Jane had to be trusted to safely trek across any obstacle or terrain, and to bring her rider back home, happy with a smile on their face. She has been on many, many camping trips as well! She crosses water, bridges, logs, treacherous footing, roads, and rides in traffic. She is used to animals running across her path, dogs, bicyclists, and other ATVs passing and driving about. She works well around cattle and has been used to rope and sort a few herself!
In the arena, Jane will walk , trot, and canter, with the smoothest most comfortable gaits around. She is more whoa than go, and listens well to her rider. She will happily go western or English. She has been started over small jumps, and has been very brave and honest. Jane neck reins, backs, and has great brakes.
In the barn, Jane stands to be groomed, tacked, bathed, and clipped. She easily loads up onto the trailer and is used to going off property to school or go on trail rides. She is well behaved for both the vet and farrier.
This mare is the easiest keeper you’ll find. Jane has lived out in a mixed herd her whole life, stays fat on air, and requires no maintenance.
We brought her in thinking she would just be a nice quiet trail horse, but she ended up being so much more! Bring her home and hit the trails on seasoned trail master, or bring her along and you’ll have a fantastic little show horse. The sky is the limit with this one. English or western, dressage or ranch work, this mare can go any direction and be successful!
Jane is located in Clover, SC and can be tried at our farm by appointment, for the duration of the sale.
