This historic old farm is located just north of the Cherokee County Line. Part of the Cagle family for more than 100 years, the house was built in 1875 and the outside walls were veneered with split-face marble in 1953. The house is currently being renovated and modernized. The owner runs cattle with some hay production and uses the old poultry houses for equipment/hay storage. The pasture is mostly bottom land w/approx. 1/3 mile frontage on Sharp Mountain Creek. It has lots of possibilities including horses, livestock, crops, poultry farm, getaway gentleman's farm, or development.
The Cagle family name has been a large part of Pickens County history practically since its inception in 1853. In fact, a section of southern Pickens County continues to be known as Cagletown by many of its older residents. Laura Lane Farm is a large part of that Cagletown history.
This wonderful property is rich in local history. Today, sitting on the back patio which overlooks the pasture land with the cows grazing and the hay fields being cut, it is easy to imagine the stories that can be told about this historical property. With ownership of this farm comes the thrill and responsibility to be a steward of the land protecting the Cagletown legacy. Owner is motivated!
