She is as beautiful and sweet as they come. Pixie was once a western pleasure show horse in a previous home, she no longer enjoys arena work. She loves trail riding. She is husband and beginner kid approved on the ground and on the trails however in an arena, round pen or pasture you will have to work a little harder under saddle for her cooperation. I would prefer to see her go to a trail riding home with out ambitions for competition / lessons, because that is the lifestyle she would enjoy most.

On the trail pixie will lead or follow, she will keep up or hang back. She crosses water confidently and will let you use logs/stumps or what ever to assist in mounting.

She neck reins and direct reins. Verbal cues for walk, trot, lope, easy, woah, back. She stands forever while you mount and dismount. I ride bitless but she takes a bit just fine.

Pixie is a little tender footed, so trail boots or front shoes are recommended. With me she is kept barefoot.

Her demeanor and ground manners are impeccable. Small children catch her, lead her, groom her, pick all four feet, load and unload her.

Pixie does not wish to be kept alone. If I pull her pasture mates out and take them out of sight she will fuss and whinny and pace, but in large group trail rides she doesn’t mind if she’s taking up the rear with horses she’s never met before while her pasture mate is leading out of sight. Because of this, I wouldn’t quite label her buddy sour because she will work without a companion she just doesn’t want to be kept without a companion.

Pixie is a delight to ride on the trails, her walk, trot & lope are comfortable and quiet. She is confident, sensible and safe, this is the one I would trust to carry anyone down the trails, be it an itty bitty beginner rider or my husband or my mother. If you can point her in the right direction and say woah you can enjoy trail riding on this gal.

She’s an easy keeper, UTD on shots and coggins, soon to be due for a routine dental.
