The farm is tucked away at the end of a 1/4 mile secluded country road (which is off another dead-end road)... that leads to a private setting with breathtaking 20-mile views.
The property has beautiful nooks and crannies for hiking to a peaceful place all your own. It has a stream that runs through south/north, a small pond, and two springs (one in photo, the other can be used to supply water to a secondary barn). This water supply provides various water sources while animals are pastured. The main water supply is delicious well water used in the house, main barn, and two paddock spigots.
Take a ride up to the top of the hayfield with family and friends to enjoy an endless mountainous view... Take a nighttime excursion to see a "dark sky” of massive star display. Without city or town lights, endless more stars can be seen!
This farm has been in the family since 1972 so the owner can attest of it being a prospective organic agricultural farm. The farm has NOT been used for annual/rotating crops and so has avoided the usual toxic chemicals put on its soil like industrialized/commercial farms have or leased properties. If that matters, then you've found your farm! And, there is no city water to worry about! The deep well water is cold and delicious!
Business opportunities—Start your own holistic/organic business growing crops, fruit, vegetables, or hemp... or even be a bed-and-breakfast getaway!
The approx. 2,300 square foot 1993 log home was custom designed and built as per owner's unique specifications on her family farm. A stunning two-story-tall window wall opens up to beautiful 20-mile views of the surrounding hills (only one house can be seen in the far distance a few miles away). It also provides a handy overlook of the front part of the farm, barn, and driveway. The many windows provide views of the outside beauty, while the farm's seclusion on a dead-end, wooded road offers privacy. A two-story wing was built in 2007, whose window design compliments the original radial-topped front windows of the living and dining rooms.
Fit Your Furniture—The very roomy five bedrooms and three full baths include two master bedroom suites (each with private bath)... one suite is on the second floor and one suite is on the first floor. There are two bonus rooms that are being used as separate walk-through offices. A very large loft is over the kitchen, providing another hang-out place (big enough for couches) with more awe striking views.
The home has an open layout for the living room, dining room and kitchen, making it welcoming for fellowship of family and friends. The approx. 18-foot knotty-pine cathedral ceiling adds wonder to the home's one-of-a-kind character. The loft gives the kitchen a log-beam ceiling.
There is a central-vac vacuum system with plenty of outlets to allow easy cleaning in the basement, first, and second floors. A great asset!
Relax and enjoy life on the wrap-around porch (10'x48') and front deck (approx 38'). Sit down and watch the glistening sunrise, the horses, cows, deer, fox, and turkey meandering through the farm... or keep an eye on the equestrian riding in the fenced riding arena nearby! There is plenty of room to entertain guests inside and out.
The full basement is approx. 48’ x 28’ and has a washer/dryer set up, floor drain, hot water heater, furnace, and breaker box. The basement has a French door which exits under the front deck and leads out to the front rock gardens. There is an above-ground pool with deck and rock steps and landscaping leading up to it.
The property is fenced and cross-fenced for pasturing horses and cows. It offers fun recreation, private camping, plenty of hunting woods, horseback riding and hiking trails, beginner snowboarding slope, and soon will be the setting for a wedding atop one of its magnificent picturesque hills.
The hayfield is approximately 50 acres and has provided up to 160 first-cutting round bales to feed the horse and beef herds... then has been used as their pasture afterwards from mid-summer until the snow flies well into the fall. After that, the hayfield is closed to protect the crop. There is approx. 50 acres of other pasture with woods that the animals are turned out on.
There is a large converted dairy barn that has six large horse stalls, including an approximate 14' x 14' foaling stall (with direct access to an outside door into one of the paddocks). Floors are all concrete. A wide center aisle provides plenty of room to move and cross-tie horses. Above is a huge hayloft to store hay for the winter months. The owner has kept the strong, cement-block silo standing for future use. The old "milkhouse" room of the barn has an entry door and exits into the main barn. It has been converted to a washroom with sink and storage space... a room off of that is used as a tack room. There is also a chicken hen house built inside a corner of the hayloft... it has a door that allows outside access.
The barn also has a very large open area that is set up with hanging cages to house 48 show rabbits. This area offers more horse stall space (extra oak boards included). Another addition still has cow stantions that can be used or taken out for even more stall space. The barn was originally made in the 1890’s (approx.), with 1960’s and 1980’s additions.
A separate barn is a few hundred feet from the house (down the road slightly from the main barn). It is located right next to the town-maintained road. It can be used for vehicle storage (or garage) downstairs or for another animal shelter. It has a hayloft upstairs.
There are a total of three outdoor shelters within the paddocks, which all can be opened to lead out to the pasture when herds are run together in the spring, summer, and fall. A cow paddock includes a cattle shute for managing and separating cows. In addition, the animals find pleasure in spending hot days under plenty of wooded areas included in the pasture.
The farm has been an annual “hunting lodge” for friends for years. Many tree stand locations are on the property, including an elevated wooden structure overlooking a big pasture area. All the others have great views within the woods and fields. Shooting ranges/views are plentiful and spread throughout the farm... so invite your friends!
Overall, the home and farm boasts of hard-to-find beauty filled with unique, unmatchable character. Add your own personalized touch for even more possibilities and plans. There is plenty of room for big families and big dreams!...Read full description
