Cherokee will turn 20 this year I have owned her since she was born. The only reason forcing my sale is my own medical reasons that prevent me from riding. Cherokee has been borrowed for trail rides by many people over her lifespan. Children learn the basics on her in the riding arena and do a lot of lead line classes at horse shows for speed events. I had shown Cherokee and jumping, halter and English classes . We did do some speed events as well but it turns out Cherokee does not like to run very fast. 3 years ago I developed some health problems that are going to turn out to be More costly than I expected. Cherokee will load into a trailer, Insisting there must be a treat inside. She has good ground manners. A very easy keeper she can survive on a slow feed hay net and a salt block. Keep her off grass due to previous bout of lamminitis that was corrected . I've mainly used to snaffle bits and hackamores throughout her life. I have trained her since she was a foal and broke her to ride when she was 3. My daughter rides but is not interested enough for me to maintain a 3 horse barn at home. Cherokee has had some easy riding the last 2 years and is one that can sit for a long time and be ready to ride. I'm looking for a home that will give her exercise and a purpose for her remaining years.
She rides english, western (neck reins well). Her ideal life would be trail riding and someone who can give her the attention she so deserves. She is pals with our mini mare that the daughter is out growing. She will need her coggins test before sale. ...Read full description
