    About

This stallion is a stunner – with his dappling, baby doll head, and height – he turns heads. His bloodlines are great and his gaits are impeccable. I’m confident that, in the right hands, this stallion can be a champion and wonderful companion. He has a willingness to learn and wants to please, but sometimes he can get in his own way with his anxieties and trust issues.

That being said, I’m going to be very, very candid here in the hopes of getting this stallion placed into the right home:

Berlin has a bit of a sordid past, and, thus, needs experienced hands. He’s intact, but is not stereotypically ‘studdy,’ and has only mounted one mare previously. He was born, tossed in a stall, and left there for years and, thus, has not been exposed to too many things. He can be spooky but is coming along rather well with his current training/sacking out.

When I first started working with him, Berlin could not be caught or haltered in less than about 45 minutes. He could not be groomed or led on a slack line. He did not know how to lunge or stand quietly at the crossties. He would not come close enough to take treats. He would not tolerate being bathed or touched in certain areas. He has attempted to kick me twice and has bitten me twice (note that these lashing outs were not out of malice, but anxiety/fear).

He can now be caught and haltered within a couple of minutes, walks on the lead, tolerates grooming and bathing (with a little nervous brio) and tying, and has been enjoying the occasional treat. Berlin lunges easily now, changing directions at the motion of a hand, and will turn in. He has not attempted to bite me or anyone else since his first month in training. He loves scratches between his ears and sticking his tongue out at you. However, Berlin still requires patience and understanding. He still needs to be sedated for the farrier and any dental work. He still kicks out when trying to handle his feet, back legs, or tailbone area (note that when I started his training, he would not tolerate being even lightly touched past the shoulder or hip bone or on the chest).

While Berlin is coming along very nicely and is showing massive potential in being a quiet stud once his training and sacking out is complete, this stallion is still hesitant and will require a knowledgeable, patient hand from a calm, yet assertive handler. I have not shown him myself, but our barn owner has. Berlin’s gait is near perfection and he ribbons any show he enters so long as he doesn’t spook in the show arena (to my understanding, this has only happened once or twice, as he is much better mannered under saddle than on the ground).

I would normally prefer to finish a horse’s training before selling, but due to financial reasons my hands are forced in listing him now. Serious, experienced inquiries only. Please note that his price will increase as his training continues. Berlin is UTD on all shots and coggins and he comes with his papers. I’m sad to see this one go, but I just can’t afford to keep him along with my other horses.

This transaction will be done via paypal and I will require all interested parties to meet with him and me prior to purchase to ensure the right fit for this sweet boy. Please contact for more pics and video.
