California Man Arrested For Riding His Horse While Drunk
We are all aware of the dangers that come with drink driving, and similar dangers are present when you are drink ‘riding’.
A Californian man from Santa Cruz learnt the hard way that riding his horse while intoxicated can be just as dangerous as driving a vehicle intoxicated in the eyes of the law.
The Highway Patrol Officers stopped the man who was riding his horse along State Route 152 near Watsonville, in the southeastern part of Santa Cruz.
He was stopped and arrested on Sunday 17th March for public intoxication.
The California Highway Patrol posted pictures on their Instagram with the caption saying “Remember it is illegal to not only drive a vehicle under the influence, but also a bicycle, motorized scooter, hoverboard, and a horse.”
CHP referred to the man as a “suspected DUI rider,” in the post. “Yes, we did say rider!”
The horse was unharmed and returned home by a family member and the intoxicated man was taken to a sobering centre.
He was not charged for driving under the influence, but after an investigation had taken place, we now know he could be charged with DUI, Fox Bay Area station KTVU reported.
Riders must be aware of the risks that riding while intoxicated imposes on both rider and horse.
