9 Horses Euthanized and 8 Horses Being Treated Following Truck Crash
9 horses have been euthanized and 8 horses are being treated after the truck they were being transported in left the road and rolled into a culvert on the 26th May at around 10:40 am in Western NSW.
The truck was carrying 17 horses and being driven down Mogriguy Road by a 32 year old man who suffered minor injuries.
Also in the truck was a 16 year old boy who was airlifted to hospital with head and chest injuries along with a 64 year old man who died at the scene.
The remaining surviving horses were taken to a nearby equine vet for further treatment.
Police have been told that the horses range in value between $50,000 and $200,000 each.
The driver was arrested the following day and has now been charged with 5 offenses. These included dangerous driving occasioning death, dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, negligent driving occasioning death, negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, and cause bodily harm by misconduct, in charge of motor vehicle. The 32 year old’s license has been suspended.
He was later granted conditional bail to appear in court in Dubbo on Wednesday 13th June.
