12 Year Old Girl Dead And Another Injured After A Horse Fell On Them
A tragic horse riding accident leaves one girl dead and her younger sister of 4, seriously injured.
The two girls aged 12 and 4 were riding their horse in lake view terrace, unsupervised when the horse they were riding fell on them.
The incident took place on the evening of the 10th July, ending in the death of 12-year-old Yolanda Ceja. Yolanda was pronounced dead at Northridge Hospital Medical Center around 8:41pm, shortly after the incident.
The Los Angeles Fire Department found the older girl “pulseless and non-breathing” after being called to the scene at around 8pm.
The younger sibling was also found with injuries which were first believed to not be life threatening, however, was later diagnosed with severe injuries and is now in a critical condition in hospital.
The Los Angeles Police Department has described the death as an accident and no further investigations are taking place.
A lady who teaches gymnastics on horses across the street from where the incident took place believes the horse that the girls were riding may have been spooked by a car or sudden noise causing him to rear up and fall back on the two girls.
The 4-year-old who remains in intensive care in a critical condition has her family beside her as she is fighting for her life. Full details of her injuries have not been released.
