6yo buckskin tobiano mare island born. Did the swim in 2015 and auction. I’ve had her since she was 3 months but sadly she matured to a height that’s too small for me.
She’s spent 2.5 years as a PATH therapy horse doing both ground and mounted programs but I could tell she doesn’t like being a lead line or pony ride pony. She is not suitable for a lesson program.
She has been leased for the last 6 months by a 15yo and she is consistently w/t/c, and has started jumping. Trail ridden, loves water. Great in cross ties and for the farrier. Barefoot and super low maintenance.
She will need an intermediate and up rider as she will challenge a rider and just stop. No amount of kicking will get her going, so the rider must be able to tell when she’s going to transition her gaits and keep on her. She has been ridden with a crop and spurs and is not overly reactive to either (no bucks). She is more whoa then go, but with the right rider she’s happy to go. She will also challenge you on the ground and you must be prepared to establish yourself at the top of the pecking order. If she knows she can’t push you around, then she’s fine. I’ve never had an issue with her, but she seems to be different with me than with barn staff.
All in all, once she knows her place and you have a bond she’s incredibly sweet and just the best pony. I wish she was bigger, I’d definitely keep her. Price is negotiable. Read more
