Meet Bravo!

I bred my excellent trail mare to the super talented performance stallion, Time to Tango and Bravo is the product. I raised this horse. He’s exactly what he looks like—there are no mystery years or holes in his history that you will never have the answer to. He’s been in my pasture or at a trainer of my choosing his whole life.

He’s an excellent riding horse, set in his gaits and ready to hit the trails and or do some showing, obstacle challenges or arena fun. On the trail, this horse will lead or follow—riding anywhere in the string. He enjoys walking out with a strong flat foot walk but is plenty capable of going slow if that is the rider’s pleasure. Works good up and down hills, over and through brush with no problem. Crosses water and bridges with confidence.

Bravo Tango is ready today to go do whatever you want to do with him! He’s proven he can sit in the pasture and be pulled out to ride occasionally or get right back into training and go show. He is at his best when he can have plenty of pasture turnout and ride two-three days a week—he doesn’t need to ride daily and can get a little bored with the arena when ridden daily in an arena. Bravo seems very at home on trail rides and camping trips—travels easy and loves being out on the trails. He is big and stout—measuring 15.2 hands.

Bravo has been a good horse for me. He is an easy keeper—light grain, pasture grazing and hay. I do have him on Summit Joint—a Glucosamine/Chondroitin shot that I give him monthly in his neck muscle.

Bravo has an interesting color—he is a smokey black—a dark brown color with gold undertones but will sun fade out and look like a golden buckskin in the summer unless he is kept out of the sun.

Bravo is easy to handle—loads in an open trailer or closed up slant load….backs out to unload in either. Stands for the vet and farrier without any issues. Easy to clip and groom. He can be playful in the herd.

Tony and Jenny Vaught started Bravo under saddle as a two year-old and then he moved into show training with Erin Patterson. He was showed by Lane Patterson in the 2019 Missouri Foxtrotter 3 Year-Old Futurity—winning his preliminary class and coming in 4th in the final Championship class. I began riding him after the futurity in the summer of 2019 and had success showing—earning a Reserve World Grand Champion ribbon and Reserve Champion Ribbons a few times in Bravo and my first year of performance showing ever!

At the end of the 2019 show season Bravo had a minor suspensory tendon injury. I followed the vet’s instructions with stall rest and gradually got back to riding in 2020. 2020 was weird year for horse shows anyway and it made sense to give Bravo the show year off—opting to only keep my senior horse in training this year when many shows were cancelled. Bravo had a full recovery and was ready to go back to work after the time off to heal.

In 2021 we came back to the show ring and had some great rides and excellent placings. I also started trail riding Bravo more regularly, introduced obstacle and trail competitions and pattern work (horsemanship and ranch horsemanship). Bravo was excellent at picking up new skills and trying new things. At the 2021 Missouri Foxtrotter World Show and Celebration we showed in three classes, finishing 3rd in Country Pleasure, performance class, Reserve World Champion in Walk Trot Open Western Pleasure, versatility class, and Reserve World Champion in Walk Trot Open Trail, versatility class. Bravo and I also won a buckle and national title at the Country Tough Trail Versatility Competition (Open to all breeds) last fall in the Green Horn Division for young horses—sweeping the Ranch Horsemanship class (arena pattern class), the Obstacle Competition (field course with bridges and technical maneuvers) and the Trail Competition (judged obstacles on the trail) to win the division championship and buckle!

I am an amateur rider and I enjoy learning new things and trying to master different disciplines. We have thrown a rope off of him—I’m a terrible roper but he does well and is not bothered by the rope in the air or around him. I’ve drug tires and logs off him. I’ve also rode him in English tack and English Pleasure classes. He’s a very trainable horse that can do a lot of things.

This amazing horse has done so much in his life and he has only just begun! To see a complete list of EVERYTHING he has done so far, copy and paste this link into your browser. clid=IwAR0uJe9aeJ5M4e659vxV50DrXYXJGZrNf -CVmvgrptwOiYbtMAIF_INdN1k
