Bella was the best mom to her filly. Upon an easy birth, she was attentive to her filly by helping her stand and helping her get to milk. She provided plenty of milk through the entire 9 months before weaning. Bella was always alert to filly’s whereabouts, but also welcomed any humans or other horses to come close to her baby from birth to weaning. She was weaned in June and we would like to sell her instead of putting her back in pasture with her baby.
Bella is easy to groom, stands perfectly for fly spray, farrier work and getting washed, loads in trailers, step up or ramps, crosses creeks, bridges or whatever you want and follows when led without question. She is a very trusting horse and boy is she comfortable! Riding bareback is a dream. She can be a great leader on the trail, but it seems she more likes to follow. She does not crowd and is not pushy. Her docile behavior makes her get a little pushed around at feeding time. We have not packed with her, but given her behavior, we imagine she would be good at that too. She is good around other horses, dogs, chickens, heavy equipment, vehicles, and roads. She came to us with shoes on, but we have had her barefoot for the last 18 months and her hooves are doing great. More frequent riding than we were able to do may require the use of shoes.
Bella may need a somewhat confident rider at first especially when riding close to the barn as she can be barn sour or buddy sour. This was not told to us when we purchased her, and she became barn sour in a quiet kind manner without pinned ears or bucking or rearing, so we did not know that was what she was doing. Once we figured out this weird behavioral trait, she was easily corrected and obliges to a confident rider. Additional or more frequent riding eliminates this behavior.
Bella is ready-to-go whether you want an addition to your breeding program or an addition to your trail riding or both!
Bella is available for pick-up only via your own transport.
