**THIS PONY IS LOCATED IN Newaygo MI**
Meet Apache he’s a POA few spot leopard appaloosa pony gelding. He’s 10 hands tall. He rides and drives. For driving he stands excellent for tacking up, hitching to the cart, and getting on and off. He will stand stock still in fact he’s so good at standing still I have left him in the yard all hitched up not tied and when I come back he’s still in the same spot. For riding he stands great for tacking and good for mounting.
He is a little on the lazy side which is a good thing if you think about it because he’s not going to bolt or take off very easily. So he’s pretty safe that way. He’s got more whoa than go in him. You would think this was an older pony by the way he acts but he’s not he’s only 8 years old, but every time the kids ride or drive him he’s just so quiet and laid back I just can’t believe how quiet he is.
He will leave home alone just fine for driving. For riding in a group he can lead or follow he prefers to follow, but he will lead. He has gone in ponds, creeks, and the river and he’s done it all great. He’s traffic safe doesn’t care about cars and in fact he was really tested with traffic just recently because we were driving down a busy road and we had a truck with sirens blaring go right by and I would expect any horse or pony to react, but he never blinked an eye so he’s pretty good with the traffic. We also had him in the river with tubers and canoers going by and he was fine with it all.
One thing I really love about this guy is that he’s easy to catch! Not all ponies are in fact the kids have tied him out in the yard to eat grass and he has gotten loose before and you would think he would be off somewhere else, but no every time he’s in the same spot eating away and he’ll let you walk right up to him every time he’s that easy to catch.
He fly sprays, baths, clips, and easy to deworm. He’s good for the ferrier right now he has front shoes on he had front shoes when we got him as they used him for driving a lot and since we drive with him we have kept shoes on him. And again he is more whoa than go however if you take him out on the trail with the bigger horses he will move out more if you want and he will canter too. So it’s mostly when he has a kid just messing with him out in the yard or arena that he’s going to be more lazy and more whoa so he’s a babysitter that way because he’s just so relaxed. But he will trot and move out more to keep pace with the bigger horses when you are out on the trail.
And another favorite thing I love about him is he DOES NOT have a pony attitude he really doesn’t care about other horses that much and out in the herd he’s lower on the pecking order so he gets along just fine. He’s been in with mares and other geldings.
And you may just be looking for the kids, but don’t sell this guy short he can be fun for adults too because he can carry you along in the cart just fine. With driving they can pull more than they can carry so he’s a blast all the way around whether you want him for riding or for driving you can do both with this guy.
If I needed a safe pony for the kids to learn on Apache would be the go to pony for me because he’s just so quiet and he lets them do just about anything with him. And he’s never once offered to do anything crazy like buck, rear, kick, or bite. He always loads right up in the trailer and does great for hauling.
This pony is super fun all the way around and he’s got that one factor that’s hard to come by in ponies and that is that he is SAFE! So check out his videos and don’t forget to call with any questions if you’re interested in Apache our phone number
