    About

    Located in Denton, TX.

Swayze is a 5 year old unraced TB gelding. He is right around 15.2-3hh. I don’t have his papers but he is tattooed and his name is Silver Isles, he is a son of Dunkirk. I bought Swayze in hopes of turning him into my eventer, but due to personal reasons, I have to sell him. Asking $1️⃣2️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ OBO. Good home is a must.

Pros: Swayze is super laid back and a total sweetheart. He loves attention and he’d follow you anywhere if it meant scratches and treats. He’s the bottom of the totem pole, super submissive in the pasture. He’s been turned out with one other gelding and two mares. He’s very smart and sensible, I only put maybe 5 rides on him and he was such a gentleman. I rode him both english and western, but he isn’t too keen on the western saddle just yet. I also rode him bareback, as well as let my husband ride him bareback (and my husband has only ridden maybe 20 times in his life). He was just bareback with a halter, nothing else. He has had extensive amounts of groundwork done and is almost solid in voice commands. He has always been a joy to work with. Swayze is an easy keeper, he gets fed a ration balancer as well as free choice hay 24/7. He stands quiet to be groomed, blanketed, bathed. Stands quiet to be tacked up. He currently has corrective shoes on the fronts, and that’s only because the mud here is terrible and we needed sturdier shoes on him in order to get his feet in better shape. He was barefoot when I got him, but we have a lot of rocks here and he got a little tender. He’s always been sound. He did suffer from a wing fracture of the coffin bone at some point before I got him, but he healed 100% after a year off and was cleared to return back to work. Previous owner suggested a bar shoe on the affected hoof.

Cons: he is swaybacked, yes. But, it does not inhibit his abilities under saddle whatsoever. Your biggest enemy will be saddle fit and keeping his topline muscles strong. It’s simply a conformational fault and nothing more. He doesn’t stand tied for extended periods of time, and he doesn’t stand quiet for the farrier. He has developed a bad habit of setting back. With a stud chain in his mouth, it gives him something to chew on and he’s a lot easier to handle that way. The longer the farrier session, the more restless and nervous he gets, but he isn’t dangerous.

Overall, Swayze is a very sweet boy with a heart of gold and the desire to please his owner. He doesn’t have a mean bone in his body and I honestly can’t see him ever doing anything to put his rider in harm’s way. He is very kind and gentle. He has no limitations in what he can do, he could go on to exceed at whatever job you give him. I really hate to see him go, but we’ve had something come up unexpectedly.

It’s currently a muddy mess where I am, and we don’t have an indoor arena, so I can’t provide a video at this time. But I do have some videos of him moving and also a video of me riding bareback. Feel free to contact me if you wish to see more pictures, videos, or you have questions.
