OneHotImpressiveGirl aka Maggie
Coming 8 year old APHA mare (6/9/2013) Stands about 15 hands and is as wide as she is tall. She is up to date on her shots and will be due in May. This horse is not for the faint of heart. She has a lot of quirks and I’m going to be up front about them.
1. She is navicular. She got osphos injections 3/23 and is on Isoxsuprine twice a day. I have up to date x rays and vet records. She has pads and wedges on her front feet. She has been taking to treatment well. She will need the wedge shoes for good and the injections at least once or twice a year. I take her to Allegheny Equine in Murrysville, PA. She has been sound since she started treatment and my vet said to not stop working her. She has a lot of life and spirit left in her.
2. She isn’t a fan of loading on the trailer and needs a stud chain on in order to get her to load. She used to not load at all and this is the compromise I made with her.
3. She is big and she knows it and will test you with her size. I’m only 4’11 and I handle her fine when I stand my ground. I’ve found that if you treat her with the same mood she’s in you get through to her better but kindness goes a long way with this horse.
4. She bucks when she doesn’t want to do something but it’s usually just a crow hop until you get her to move.
She has a lot of good qualities to even out her bad ones though. She is very easy on the eyes. A very easy keeper too. She stands pretty well for the farrier, some moving here and there but she settles down. Stands for bath time. Super light in the face and moves off your legs beautifully. She knows the barrel pattern but i don’t think it’s what she wants to do. She has a goofy personality once she opens up to you. She gets along with most other horses. She prefers to be in the pasture but definitely enjoys her stall time. She does get blanketed in the winter. Loves to be groomed and braided. Good with dogs, she plays tag with my dog in the pasture. She is a very brave trail horse and goes over and through anything I’ve pointed her at. She absolutely loves water. I’ve put a lot of work into this horse and she has come a long way from when I bought her. I think she’d much rather enjoy the laid back life of being a halter/pleasure horse than a performance horse.
She hasn’t been ridden in a few months due to me getting a new job and her starting a new treatment plan.
Only selling because I’m wanting to take a step back from horses for a while and I’m getting ready to move. She has so much potential but I’m burnt out on horses and need to take a break. She’s got too much potential in other areas to sit. Message me for details. Located in Hilliards, PA...Read full description
