    About

Gambling on a Silver Legacy is a 2012 solid gray Pinto mare. She is registered with the Pinto Horse Association of America. She is a cross between a gray Warmblood Paint mare and a palomino AQHA stallion making her more of a hunter type Pinto. She stands around 15.2 hh. She is a gray color with two perfectly even hind socks. She has the well known Palomino stallion, Winning Colors, on her papers.

"Dixie" was born on the farm. I have personally handled her since the second she hit the ground and I have loved her ever since. She has a one-of-a-kind personality, she is a big puppy dog, and loves to play. She knows the basics under saddle such as walk, trot, and canter. She bends and flexes very well, gives well to pressure, and is learning how to neck rein. She is 100% sound.

Dixie is so smart and has quite an attitude when she wants to, which is the only fault I can pin against her. That attitude though, is what has caused us to butt heads quite often. As I mentioned previously, she does KNOW how to do everything under saddle, but whether she will do it or not depends on the day. Cantering, especially, seems to be our weak point. When she does not want to canter, she will buck. Most often, they are just playful bucks, but they can get more aggressive the more you get after her. Thus, I do NOT recommend a beginner. In fact, I only recommend a very advanced rider. I honestly believe that once she matures a little more and is trained consistently, I do not think she will have any problems at all. At this very point, she has only been ridden last summer as well as this summer, as that is the only time between semesters that I was able to work her. If you have ever worked with horses you will understand that her issues stem from this lack of consistency. She needs to go to a home where she will be ridden regularly as to work out the kinks in her training.

Despite this issue, I truly do love this mare. She has taught me so much about how to train a horse that is a little too smart for its own good and I just wish that I would be able to finish her out and watch her grow. Unfortunately, I cannot as I am going into my second year of medical school and I just do not have the time. I promise you though, that she has so much potential. She is a lovely mover and is a very personable mare. With the right person, she will really blossom into any kind of horse you desire. She has potential to do it all from pleasure to barrels to cutting. I have personally taken her to a walk trot show and she did great. She has also been in the town's parade and has been trail ridden. She is not at all spooky and is a very level headed mare.

I cannot tell you how much I adore this horse. I have two other horses for sale and although I will tell you that I love them all, and I do, if I could keep one of them it would be her, hands down. Although she is proving to be a little more difficult to work with, I know once finished and mature, this mare is going to make someone a wonderful, all-around mare.

A good home is a must and therefore, her price is negotiable. I am open to all reasonable offers. Her price includes all of the tack that will go with her. As I mentioned previously, I do have two other horses for sale. If interested, please do not hesitate to ask and I will be happy to talk to you about them.
