Just take a good look at the handsome fella. Jay stands a solid 15.1 hands and is just built like a tank. Registered as Reeds Ray Jay, is a (2014) AQHA grullo gelding that will catch the eye of any bystander. He is very well trained and will excel at any ranch job given to him. He neck reins, direct reins, responds well to your seat and leg cues and loves to go above and beyond what you ask of him. He is a horse that loves to have a job. He will try his heart out at whatever you ask him to do. He has a smooth jog and extends nicely with just a squeeze of the leg. He will travel with his head nice and low where it is supposed to be and has a nice quick stop to him when you ask him. He has great lope and knows his leads well no matter if you ride him in the arena or out in the field. He has a great ground covering walk that marches right down the road. He has been a trail horse and used to check cows and has had a rope thrown off him in the pasture so far in his lifetime. He does not have any bad habits and will always be the same horse each time you get him out. He has been on numerous trails in all different types of terrain. He will go through water, over bridges and is easy to ride in traffic. He has been out alone and does well riding right off the farm with any issues when you are coming back as well. We have trailered him to new places, and he will come off the trailer easily and settles right in. Jay really enjoys his person and he loves when you give him head hugs. Even though he looks tough and handles everything with courage, he will melt with the gentlest touch and loves being connected to his person. Even though he is an easy horse to ride and truly loves people, he is not a horse for a beginner. He responds easily to cues and for that reason only we are not recommending him for a beginner as they may ask him to do something that they didn’t realize that they asked. He has been fun to take through our program and nothing has ever seemed to phase this guy at all.
