Diego is a beautiful eight year old bay Pony draft cross gelding. He stands 14 hands tall and is the stoutest pony you will find anywhere. He has the big bone, body and foot of the draft cross. He is stout and thick. With his strong stature, he is equipped to pack most any adult rider and is also perfect for those young Cowboys and cowgirls who are ready to step up to their next horse. Diego is originally from South Texas where he has been ridden on a large feed yard by a 10 year old boy. He has been used to check and move cattle, check fences, load cattle onto semis, doctor cattle and has been pasture roped off of some as well. Diego is very soft in the mouth. He one-hand neck reins, backs takes the correct lead while loping circles and has a big sliding stop. Being the smaller ranch horse that he is, anything thing you throw at him on the ranch or at the stockyards, he already knows about it. He knows his job and is a pro at it. He is so fun to ride! If you’re looking for a horse to take your child to that next level of horsemanship, Diego is your guy to teach them how to get there. On top of being an excellent ranch hand, Diego is also an exceptional trail horse. We’ve ridden him many miles on the trail and he can handle it all. Rough terrain, up and down steep hills, through mud or deep water, over logs or through brush- Diego can navigate it! He has a willing attitude and respectfully does as he is asked. He will ride in the front or the back, with a group or even out alone. He is very familiar with all kinds of livestock and wildlife. From working cattle, to the goats, dogs and cats running under his feet at the barn, to seeing many turkey, deer and squirrels and such out on the trail. He is good with the whip as well as traffic, tractors and other commotion. He stands tied patiently, stands for the farrier, loads and hauls perfectly, gets along well with other horses, and is clean in the stall. Diego is well suited for a confident beginner. He stands to be mounted and will walk along as long as you wish, but is also quick to follow your next command when you ask him to trot, lope, turn or back. He is very broke and well trained. He is an awesome animal who knows and loves his job! Check out his full video to see all of this and more! Feel free to call with any questions!
