This 16" Saddle is a Gorgeous Y-L Saddlery Custom, Model 909 Wade High Back. Y-L Saddlery in Hot Springs, SD is known as one of the best custom modern saddles made anywhere. This 909 model features outstanding quality leather, a round skirt, a deep pocket for comfort, 6 inch hih back cantle, and plenty of stirrup length for adjustment. The double rig is beefy and the thick leather shows the attention to building a saddle to last a long time. This saddle has had some use, but is solid and ready to ride. The quality stirrup leathers feature a hamley twist and are broken in enough they are soft and comfortable. The saddle has a Bowden rawhide wrapped saddle tree - they are stitched with the best hides and rawhide lace - the stitches are close together, hand laced around the cantle and swell, then hand nailed in the cantle and gullet. This saddle has a tree that is laminated with 1 1/2" plywood between two layers of pine. The bars are made of pine from high elevations in Colorado, which has a tighter grain and more tensile strength. Quarter horse bars with a nice flare for shoulder relief.
