We are searching for a great home for our wonderful APHA registered horse, Shasta. Shasta is an ideal beginner's horse and the perfect family horse for everyone to enjoy. He is as pretty on the inside as he is on the outside. Shasta is a gentle giant that stands 16 hands tall and is a strong, stout horse with lots of muscle. Shasta is a beautiful sorrel overo with gold flecks shimmering in his coat. He has small splashes of white, a big blaze and four white stockings. He is an absolutely gorgeous horse, definitely an eye catcher. Shasta is well made with good bone and excellent conformation. He is as reliable and as bombproof as a horse can get. Nothing rattles him, he is very smart and very sensible. Shasta has had lots of desensitizing training and nothing upsets this horse. We have exposed Shasta to everything imaginable and he just looks and doesn't react. Shasta has been trained to stop if he feels his rider losing their balance and starting to fall off. This horse has a great brain, a real thinker, he is not at all one to react to things. Shasta is very quiet and uncomplicated. He is always calm, never does anything stupid. This horse is a cadillac ride, super smooth and slow. He is responsive, meaning he does what is asked of him, when it is asked, but he does things in a smooth and steady way, no quick, jarring movements. He would be ideal for older riders who want to enjoy riding a horse without worrying about getting hurt, for anyone wanting to have an enjoyable ride without any worries, and for children. Shasta is a confidence builder for even the most timid of riders. He is super easy to handle and to ride. He is very laid back and trustworthy, a smooth, uncomplicated, reliable mount who is a pure pleasure to ride. Shasta is very broke and has had years of riding, he responds to seat and leg cues, collects beautifully, has a soft mouth, neck reins and direct reins, backs nicely, sidepasses, pivots, yields forequarters and hindquarters, and has a super slow and smooth lope that is to die for. Every gait of Shasta's is smooth and steady. He is very sure footed, and athletic and could be used in a variety of disciplines, but he is not suitable as a speed horse, this boy has no fire, he is too sensible and calm. Shasta is very forgiving of riders who do not know what they are doing, and he tries to figure out what they want. Shasta rides well in arenas, on busy streets, out on country back roads, and on the trail. You can take him to the store to get an ice cream, ride out on the roads in traffic, haul him to an arena he has never seen before, and he is completely calm and accepting. He is an excellent trail riding horse. Shasta will go anywhere you point him, both alone and in a group, in a very relaxed manner. Shasta has been ridden in very thick brush and vines, over logs, through ravines, into creeks and loves to swim in ponds and lakes. He is pure enjoyment and a pleasure to own and handle. Shasta loves attention from people. He will stand patiently by your side and rest his head against your arm, waiting quietly to be petted. Shasta whinnies when he sees us and will come to us. He loves to be groomed, clips nicely, loves a bath, is excellent for the farrier and the vet, loads and unloads calmly and hauls quietly. He will stand tied all day and go to sleep when tied. Shasta has excellent ground manners and is a very respectful and obedient horse. He has been trained to Clinton Anderson's advanced level of groundwork. This horse never balks, is not buddy sour, does not think about prancing or jigging, and he certainly will not run away with you. His favorite speeds are slow and smooth, and he goes whatever speed is asked of him. Shasta's pedigree is full of champions and horses that compete in a variety of disciplines, his sire is a world champion producer of performance horses. Shasta has a great temperament and has a willing to please attitude. He has no bad habits or issues, no vices. No kick, bite, buck or rear. Shasta gets along great with other horses, he only wants to get along with everyone and every thing. He is sound and healthy in every way, he has strong barefoot hooves and is an easy keeper. Shasta is up to date on teeth floating, vaccinations, Coggins, hoof care and deworming. He will be sold to an excellent home only, with a buy-back clause, so that we can be sure Shasta always has a good home. $8,500 firm, and worth every penny!
