We are looking for a new home for Rita, our thoroughbred mare. She has been ridden both english and western. She has also been jumped casually at home and seems well suited for that. She is completely broken and suitable for most any rider. That being said, Rita needs a more experienced handler on the ground as she has times of being spooked when tied up, etc. (She IS a thouroughbred after all!) She has a docile personality and gets along well with other horses. She prefers being around other horses, as well. She stands easily for the vet and farrier and allows her feet to be picked up easily. Rita does crib -- true cribbing, NOT wood eating -- but is otherwise in good health and an easy keeper. She will be due for her shots again in August. She does have an old scar to her right rear leg from a trailering accident before we got her. She has never been lame in any way for us. Because of her previous accident, she refuses to trailer in our little, two-horse trailer. However, she loads easily into a larger, slant-load trailer, especially with other horses. My daughter is more interested in western speed events, so we are hoping that someone else will have a better use for Rita now. Asking $600 but will give discount to 4H home. Price is negotiable as a good, loving home is our first priority.
