If you are looking for a nice young horse with a quiet, willing disposition and an excellent foundation, one that you can take in any direction you choose, then take a look at Hershey. He is a cute, good minded black gelding, 14.3 hh and nicely built with a good hip, pretty head and neck and a kind eye. Hershey is 5 years old and out of registered quarter horses but will sell as grade. He is a pretty mover, with smooth gaits and an excellent stop. He is gentle and doesn’t need to be ridden every day to stay that way. Hershey rides quietly on a loose rein, and is laid back but responsive. He has never offered to buck, even if laid off for a period of time. He has the mind and athletic ability to go in any direction you choose, whether you just want to use him on the ranch, ride on trails, do Stock Horse of Texas or even mounted shooting. He is such a pretty mover he could even go English. Hershey is gentle enough that intermediate adult or youth riders could safely ride him. We have had a 12 year old beginner rider ride him and Hershey took excellent care of her, but due to his age I would not recommend him for a beginner rider unless they were under the eye of a trainer or experienced horse person. Hershey is good on both leads, has a soft mouth, and will trot and lope pretty circles. He will open and shut gates, sidepass and work off your leg. We have swung a rope on him, drug logs, and sorted cattle in the pens, but we have never roped live cattle off of him. He has a good handle and stops correctly, really getting his butt underneath him in good footing. He rides quiet out in the pasture as well, although tends to be a little cautious in new places if asked to be the lead horse. Hershey will track you down in the pasture and stick his head in the halter for you, and he loves people. He gets along great with all other horses, but is not bard sour or buddy sour. He can be ridden alone or in a group of horses with no problem. Hershey is UTD on shots, coggins, and teeth, and he is sound and healthy.
